This initial begins Psalm 32, 'Exultate iusti in domino ...' (Rejoice in the Lord, O ye just), which was read at Matins on Monday in the first week of Advent. This psalm of praise asks the just to 'give praise to the Lord on the harp; sing to him with the psaltery, the instrument of ten strings. This image shows the reverse of a leaf with an historiated initial from a ferial psalter. This side of the leaf, the true verso, continues Psalm 38, which begins on the front.
