Script: Written in an Italian Gothic rotunda script.
Binding: Later (18th- or 19th-century?) diced calf, blind-stamped and blind-tooled, over wooden boards; four raised bands; one clasp and one remnant of clasp on fore edge.

Decoration: 40 historiated initials, 3 to 7 lines in height, in pink, blue, and green on gold grounds with marginal extensions of acanthus leaves (f. 12v, 5 lines, God; f. 13v, 5 lines, Virgin and Child; f. 14r, 7 lines, Adoration of the Virgin; f. 15r, 4 lines, Saint Stephen; f. 16r, 5 lines, Saint John the Evangelist; f. 17r, 4 lines, Massacre of the Innocents; f. 18r, 4 lines, Saint Thomas...
Collation: i (18th- or 19th-century paper) + i (13th-century parchment) + 271 + ii (13th-century parchment) + i (18th- or 19th-century paper); 1⁶⁻¹(-1) 2¹⁰⁻¹(-1) 3-13¹⁰ 14⁶⁻¹(-6) 15-22¹⁰ 23⁸ 24-28¹⁰ 29⁴; [i, 1-271, i-ii], modern foliation in pencil. Horizontal catchwords lower center last recto, except in gatherings 1 (calendar), 24 (f. 227), and 29 (end of volume).
Layout: Written in two columns of 32 lines; ruled in faint ink with vertical bounding lines.
Origin: Written in Italy after the establishment of the Feast of the Transfiguration in 1456 (August 6, f. 3v) and probably before the canonization of Saint Bonaventure in 1482 (not present in calendar).
Formerly owned by J. A. Shanley, Lowell, Massachusetts (signature in pencil, inside front cover), early 20th century. Possibly the J, A. Shanley appearing in Lowell city records in 1901-1902 as receiving payment for engrossing resolutions for the city council.
