Text on vellum within double-ruled black borders, in a single clear rounded hand; opening capitals illuminated in gold and black; section titles in gold capitals on burgundy background; witness testimony highlighted with black initials; recto of each leaf bears notary's initials confirming authenticity. At head of text: painting of a cardinal's hat in green, above a dark-red heart pierced with two arrows; Biblical quotation above from Romans Ch. 8, in black letters on gold background: "Debitores sumus non carni." Frontispiece (verso of preliminary leaf) is a full-page colored painting of the coat of arms of the Bargas [?] family, in blue, tan, yellow, and gold, within a triple border of blue, gold, and tan. Bookplate of Henry Probasco, dated Dec. 1, 1890. Forms part of the Henry Probasco Collection at the Newberry Library.
