Indenture document (conveyance) between John Manwood of Broomfield, Essex, gentleman and John Greene of Boreham, Essex, yeoman, witnessing that the latter has paid John Manwood ₤145 and twelve parcels of meadow ground containing 11 acres in Riseley Meade and Boreham, another Broade Meade in parishes of Boreham, Little Baddowe and Springfield Essex in occupation of John Ashbey. Parchment, single sheet, indented along top, with plica. Parchment tag still attached but now lacking seal. Written in a late English secretary script with italic influences; opening words and later, emphasized words in larger bastard anglicana script. 13-line, single color, initial "T" with flourishes opens the text. Pricking in outer left margin for ruling. Document folded five times.
Written in England and dated 16 December, 22 Charles II (1670). Two inscriptions on the dorse: towards the top in a similar script to that of the main text, "Sealed and delivered in the house of William [sp?], John Green, William Holiday, [indecipherable signature of possibly 10 letters follows]"; towards the bottom in a much darker ink and later hand, "Manwood to Green} Conveyance of Land in...
