Psalm 97, the beginning of one of the ten major divisions of the Psalms, is typically illustrated with a scene of a choir of monks. Here, however, the illuminator has chosen to emphasize the reason why the world needed to be saved... This image shows the reverse of a leaf taken from a psalter.
