Initial A This leaf from a Bible contains the beginning of I Chronicles. The initial A that begins the book is a fine example of a fanciful Romanesque initial. Here the artist has made the left leg of the letter a dragon that bites the foliage that forms the right leg. Script: Transitional script (praegothica)
