Decoration: Fragment 5 with portions of a floriated initial in red, yellow, blue, and green. Binding: Each fragment affixed to a stub; bound in modern tan buckram. Origin: Copied in Southern Italy, second half of the 12th century. Provenance: All fragments removed from bindings. Offered as a group at Sotheby's, London, (21 June, 1994, lot 5) to Bernard Quaritch. Later in the collection of Martin Schøyen, his MS 1855/3, 1855/4, and 1855/5. Immediate source of acquisition: Purchased from Bernard Quaritch, Ltd., in May, 2023. Former and related shelfmarks: Fragment 1 formerly Schøyen MS 1855/4. Apparently from the same parent manuscript as Basel, Universitätsbibliothek, MS CL 216 (ii), a single leaf from a pocket-sized Bible written in single columns. Fragment 2 formerly Schøyen MS 1855/3.
