Collation: Paper, fol. 64 ; 1-512 614−8(wanting 3-10); unsigned, foliated in contemporary brown ink, 1-72, wanting 63-70, with loss of text, these numbers used here for reference.
Layout: Single column, 30-36 lines per page, bounding lines creased into paper, written space 170-190 x 108-115 mm
Script: Written in a mercantesca script in brown ink.
Binding: Bound in contemporary wooden boards, sheepskin spine, repaired and partially rebacked. Remains of early paper label on spine. Remains of tawed leather strap closure on upper board, nail holes on lower cover, possibly from removed chain hasp. Parchment pastedowns; at front, a contemporary table of contents, pastedown on rear comprises waste from a 14th-century document. Title on lower...
Origin: Copied in Italy by one Bartolomeus de Zachariis on 2 January 1458 [i.e., 1459?]: "Ego [Bar]tolameus de Zachar[i]is complevi hu[n]c libru[m] mediante gr[ati]a d[omi]ni n[ost]ri yh[es]u [Christi] die lune 2 Ianuarii 1458 ora q[uas]i 2a noctis laus deo."
Provenance: Contemporary annotations in the hand of the scribe and others. Later passed to a Dominican convent, possibly in Verona. Inscription on fol. 72v: "Iste liber e[st] [con]ve[n]t[us] [Ver]on[ensis?] ordinis [pre]dicato[rum] dat[us] [conven]tui ab h[e]r[e]di[bus] d[omi]ni Barth[olom]ei de Zachariis. In 13o ba[n]cho a dextris 13us." Offered for sale at auction through Bloomsbury in 2018...
