Modern arabic pencil foliation, upper outer corner of each page. Layout: Single column, 33 lines. Bounding and writings lines in light plummet or blind. Script: Written in a rounded gothic bookhand in brown ink with red rubrics. Decoration: Two-line red with blue or blue with red throughout, for chapter initials; sentence initials stroked yellow; eight-line red and blue puzzle initial on fol. 1 with red and blue filigree into inner and upper margin. Binding: ca. 1915 English binding of crushed red morocco over boards by Katharine Adams, her signature stamp inside rear cover (a key with initials K A), title and date gilt-stamped on spine: "I FIOR/ETTI/ DI/ SAN/ FRAN/ CESCO" and "CIRCA/ MC/ CCC/ LXXX"; gilt fillet turn-ins. Original pastedown pulled up and preserved as parchment flyleaf at back (preceded by three modern parchment... Origin: Written in Italy in the second half of the fifteenth century. Usualy attributed to Ugolino di Monte Santa Maria (now Montegiorgio). Immediate source of acquisition: Acquired by BPL from H.P.
