Script: Northern textualis.
Layout: 2 columns, 48 lines. Bounding and writing lines in brown ink, vertical bounding lines full-length.
Decoration: Two-line chapter initials in alternating blue letters with red pen flourishing and red letters with blue or black pen flourishing; each verse begins with the first letter faintly illuminated.
Binding: Housed in an oversize folder.
Origin: Written in Germany in the mid-fifteenth century. Originally from a three-volume Bible (see provenance note)
Provenance: With early corrections and marginalia. The complete Bible owned by William B. Gourley of Paterson, New Jersey (his sale in New York, 4 November, 1936, lot 73, to Otto F. Ege). See Scott Gwara, Otto Ege's Manuscripts, 2013, Handlist 150.
Immediate source of acquisition: Acquired by BPL in 2000 from Dorothy Abbe.
