Decoration: Includes 2 full-page miniatures; 42 half-page or column miniatures; 23 historiated initials; 24 calendar illustrations. Calendar pages, Introits, and Proper Prefaces have borders decorated with floriate ornament. In the calendar, vignettes of the occupations of the month are within the lower border and Zodiac medallions in the side margins; KL initials are decorated. Minor initials...
Created for the Carmelites of Nantes. Later owned by Alexander Hamilton, 10th Duke of Hamilton. Sold from his collection in 1883 to the Königlich-Preussiche Museum. Sold by Sotheby's in 1889. Sold by Théophile Belin in 1896 to Henry Yates Thompson. Sold from his collection through Sotheby's. Sold to Robert Garrett in 1925 by Bernard Quaritch.
