Layout: Written in 7 long lines, ruled in hard point; fol. 72r-87v ruled in lead point; directions to rubricator occasionally visible. Script: Written in southern textura; approximately 10 different hands; fol. 72-81, 83-87 stenciled text. Decoration: Red, yellow and black stenciled initials (fol. 72-87); red and blue initials with red and blue pen flourishing; red initials with black pen flourshing, black initials with red pen flourishing (fol. 39-40); red and green initials (fol. 50-51); black strapwork initials with yellow color washing (some decorated with faces or animals); red and blue initials; yellow color washed... Music: Red 5-line staves with black square and measured notation; 7 staves per page; fol. 39r-70v, 43r-46v, 50v, 53r-53v, 8 staves per page; fol 52r-52v, 64r-64v, 9 staves per page; fol. 47r-49v, 54r-55v, 10 staves per page; fol. 50r, 67r-67v, 70r-86v, 88r, 6 staves per page; fol. 65r, 66-67v, 68v black 5-line staves; throughout notes have been scraped and crossed out to simplify melodies... Origin: Written in Spain, 16th century; fol. 65-67 probably 18th century (include B-flats, indications of meter); fol. 72-87 probably 18th century (stenciled text, notation, and decoration). Marginal annotations in Spanish and Latin added in several later hands.
