Collation: Parchment, fol. 103 (contemporary(?) pagination in black ink, 3-171, 174-207; foliated in modern pencil 1-103); 1-128 138(-8); outer margin tightly trimmed with some loss of text; pages mended with parchment sewn on, fol. 97-103 heavily mended; fol. 12r textual error corrected with sewn on parchment with text "Salve crux." Layout: Written in long lines; ruled in hard point, some leaves frame ruled in red. Script: Written in textura. Decoration: Eight large initials framed in yellow and dark red, fol. 1v historiated "S" with apostle in blue, white and orange robes pointing at a book, with green bird and foliate elements on a dark red background, 'S' striped red, green, white, and yellow; fol. 15r "O" with a brown lion wearing a crown, with blue, red, white, and yellow foliate elements on an orange background; fol. 31r... Music: Red 5-line staves with black square notation; five staves per page; indications of mode in outer margin in another hand. Origin: Written in Spain by Juan de la Mota in 1615. "Acabose este lib[r]o dia de purificacion de N[ost]ra Señora scribiolo el padre Juan d[e] Lamota an[n]o 1615." (fol. 97r) Former owner's inscription: Mr. Wm. Wolfman, 4.
