Layout: Written in 13 long lines; ruled in green ink.
Script: Written in Italian gothic textualis formata.
1. Decoration: Two inserted miniatures in early 16th century Venetian style: fol. 15v, (the Annunciation); fol. 81v, (the Massacre of the Innocents (compline)). A modern hand on fol. 1v has attributed these to Giulio Clovio, but they are not likely his. Probably to be attributed to a follower of Cima da Conegliano.
2. Decoration: Blank leaves within the text intended for illuminated miniatures and incipits. Border decorations in blue, green, and red ink of architectural motifs, with many birds and a rabbit present. Blue initials with red flourishes alternating with red initials with blue flourishes throughout, 2 lines high at beginning of sections of text, 1 line high within the text.
Origin: Written in northern Italy, possibly in Padua, note presence of Justina, Anthony, and Prosdocimus in the calendar; the calendar also suggests Franciscan affinities.
"Siena" written in modern pencil in upper margin of fol. 216r; fol. 1v, old sticker, probably of a dealer, with number "1354" and "tra" in black ink and "rax" in red ink; "17" written in pencil on the flylead itself. - Keyword:
