Latin adaption in five books sometimes called Hegesippus or Egessipus after "Josephus," rendered from the Greek original of Josephus' War, and supplemented with material from elsewhere in Josephus, the Book of Maccabbees, and various Latin sources, and incorrectly attributed to St. Ambrose (cf. Cat. J. Marti, cited below; De Bello judaico=Der Jüdische Krieg, ed. O. Michel, O. Baurenfeind... Copied by two hands: the 14th cent. copyist left gaps which were filled in by a mid-15th cent. hand. Includes annotations.
