With notes by Martin Sprengling concerning the present ms. and another ms., and a letter dated 15-6-1933 from Paul Rubin [an acquaintance of Julian Obermann, who was at that time Professor of Semitic Languages at Yale University] to Sprenger concerning proofreading. The notes are shelved as New Series no. 1740a.
Physical description: 12 lines per page, in two columns; written in nastaʻliq in black on tan glazed, laid Arabic paper. Text framed in blue and gold; columns separated by double red lines. Catchwords. First leaf missing. Fol. 1-3 have had their margins cut away and are mildewed. Fol. 183 detached; fol. 184 heavily repaired, with some loss of text. Extensive damp staining throughout remainder...
Origin: 1 Rabīʻ I 1032 H [3 January 1623], Z̤iyā al-Dīn Maḥmūd Ghubārī (fol. 184b).
On fol. ia: Ownership notes in Persian dated 1277 H [1860 or 61] and 1297 H [1879 or 80]. Note of presentation in English by James C. Young [of Minneapolis, MN, according to another note], to Prof. Colbert [Elias Colbert, Professor of Astronomy at the Chicago University], dated June 25, 1898.
