Manuscript codex
Collation: iv (modern paper, i is pastedown) + 199 (paper and parchment) + iv (modern paper, iv is pastedown): 1-2¹² + 3¹⁰ + 4-6¹² + 7¹² (wants 10, 11, 12) + 8-17¹². The outermost and innermost leaves of each gathering are parchment whereas the rest of the leaves are paper, except for quire seven, which is missing its last three leaves (after folio 79) one of which was also presumably parchment.
Foliation: Three sets of foliation in upper right corner: modern foliation in blue ink (1-5), contemporary foliation in brown ink (6-,79, 83-197), modern foliation in pencil (80-83, 90, 100-101, 125, 130, 140-151, 160, 180, 190-199). The description follows the contemporary foliation in brown ink until folio 79 and the modern foliation in pencil afterwards.
Catchwords: Horizontal catchwords at center or to the right of center on folios 24v, 34v, 46v, 58v, 70v, 91v, 103v, 115v, 127v, 139v, 151v, 163v, 175v, 187v.
Watermarks: Two watermarks in the textblock: a cart/chariot on two wheels (unidentified); a capital letter R (very similar to Briquet BR 8938).
Layout: Written in 2 columns of 33-42 lines, above top line. Ruled in lead.
Script: Probably written by a single hand in Humanistic cursive.
Decoration: 2-line initials in plain red, rubrics in red; chapter numbers in red; sentence initials highlighted in red throughout. Guide letters visible for the most part.
Binding: Modern. Parchment binding over paper boards with semi yapp edges on the fore-edge.
Origin: Probably written in Italy in the fifteenth century.

In good condition despite minor damage around corners of leaves, especially in first and last quire. Wear and tear on final leaf, with ink on verso of leaf faded and text illegible at places. Partial transcriptions and annotations in blue ink by a modern hand on folios 1r, 2r, 22r, 65v, 75v, 76r and 82v. Very few other annotations and corrections, some of which are by the same 1682 hand...
Item 4 was identified by Alfredo Troiano, Naples, Italy, 2020.
The manuscript seems to have been in the possession of a Nicandro of San Nicandro, perhaps a Franciscan friar, in 1682 according to two annotations: "Questo libro è di bellis[sim]i esempii ripieno mà non sintende troppo e parla zaffio. Fr[ate?] Nicandro d[a] S[an] Nicand[ro]. 2 Gen[naio] 1682. Finis." on 73v and "Fr[ate?] Nicandro d[a] S[an] N[ican]d[ro] li 18[?] Gen[naio] 1682." on 80vb... - Keyword:
