Recension J³. Written in Italy, probably in Bologna, in a southern gothic bookhand. First folio contains one historiated initial of Alexander the Great enthroned and an illuminated acanthus border; colored initials with pen flourishes at secondary divisions. In a 15th-cent. (?) Italian binding of wooden boards with later leather spine. In protective tray case, 32 cm. Formerly owned by Guglielmo Libri; his sale, London, Sotheby's, 28 Mar. 1859, no. 35 to Morton; John Eliot Hodgkin (d. 1912, bookplate); his sale, London, Sotheby's 12 May 1914, no. 27 to F. S. Ellis, bookseller. Purchased with the Charles Minot Fund, 1914.
