Transcription by a professional hand in a cursive script in brown ink with initials penned in margins; occasional minor corrections; probably written in Florence, Italy, ca. 1537. Bound in contemporary limp vellum with remains of leather ties; title inscribed on front cover. Partly erased oval stamp, possibly of Cardinal Antonio-Saverio Gentili (f. [1r]); Sir Edward Dering (inscribed "Dering sale," on front flyleaf); Sir Thomas Phillipps (MS 23243); Sotheby's, London, 18 June 2004, lot 94; to Maggs. Purchased with the Amy Lowell fund, 2004.
