The French text is written in a gothic book-hand in brownish and red ink in 2 ruled columns. Vol. 2, ff. 1 (including a miniature on the recto) and 8 are replacement leaves of the 17th century. There are 1 large (vol. 1, f. 1r) and 128 original small miniatures in tempera and gold, by more than one artist, one at least associated with the workshop of the Master of the Livre du Sacre de Charles V. On fol. 273v there is an erased inscription of ownership by king Charles V and the date 1373 (Avril). Title from caption, f. 1r.
