Written by the Florentine scribe Piero Cennini (colophon, f. 127v) in a quick cursive humanistic script in 27 long lines. Illumination includes white vinestem decoration with burnished gold initials (f. 1) and additional initials in gold and blue. Bound in 18th-cent. Italian decorative floral paper over pasteboard. In a protective tray case, 25 cm. Belonged to Frederick North, fifth Earl of Guilford; sold by Cochran, London, 1829, no. 349; to Sir Thomas Phillipps (Phillipps Cat., p. 94, MS 6332); his sale, London, Sotheby's 10 June 1896, no. 135; bought by Quaritch (cat. no. 164, London, 1896, no. 135). Purchased with the Charles Minot fund, 1897.
