Title supplied by cataloger. The drawings in (A) and (B) are by the same artist, but in (C) by a different one. All have been attributed to the School of Lorenzo Monaco. Various earlier attributions to Fra Angelico have been given up. For the allocation of all 3 fragments to the same roll see Palladino. Others have concluded that (C) comes from a different roll. The Latin text is in a gothic rotunda book hand in brownish ink with red rubrics, initial letters in red and blue with pen-work decoration. The drawings are in pen and ink and colored washes. Mounted and framed in 3 separate frames: 155 cm., 43 cm., and 38 cm., all x 26 cm. Items A and B: Jacques Rosenthal, Munich (1928); Henry Oppenheimer (his sale, London 1936); B bought by Mr. and Mrs. Robert Woods Bliss for the Fogg Art Museum. Items A and C: gift of Arthur Sachs to the Fogg Museum, 1956. All 3 items transferred to Houghton Library, 1990.
