Layout: 1-278 284(ff. 217-220) 294(-4; ff. 221-223; f. 224 was pastedown). Quires signed in innermost corner of first leaf recto and last leaf verso in Greek numerals. 25 long lines ruled in dry point with double bounding lines for initials; pricking often visible in the 3 outer margins. Quire 28, on paper, ff. 217-220v, in 23-21 lines, frame ruled in dry point with double bounding lines...
Other Decoration: 5-line headpiece in brownish-red ink with void floral design on f. 1; other smaller headpieces in interlocking or braided patterns (e.g. ff. 23, 48v, 70v); rules terminating in ivy leaves separate texts (e.g. ff. 4v, 17, 78). Rubrics and 1-line initials (placed outside the written space) in the same reddish color.
Script: Semi-cursive minuscule.
Support: Paper and Parchment.
The paper leaves are ff. 217-224. Final leaves approximately from f. 165 on, damaged by fire in the upper right corner, and somewhat shriveled from damp.
Written probably in the second half of the thirteenth century. Among the villages in the list (see below) is Δέσιανα, possibly to be indentified with Dečani, in modern-day Yugoslavia: in the fifteenth century the book may have been in that area. Modern tipped-in slip from a Byzantine liturgical text between ff. i-ii. Was n. 37 (this number in pencil on f. i) in a modern German catalogue. Alien... - Keyword:
