Book of Hours, in Dutch, written in the middle of the fifteenth century in the Netherlands, probably for use in the diocese of Utrecht. Later additions to the calendar show Franciscan interest. Span folios: ff. 1-142v. Support: Parchment. Layout: 16(+1) 26 38(+1) 4-108 118(-4, excised, after f. 82) 128 138(-7, 8, after f. 99) 148 154(-1; ff. 108-110) 16-198. Ruled space, 93 x 66 mm; 20 long lines ruled in light brown ink, the top and bottom 2 lines full across. Written in a gothic script in a brownish ink; computistic notes, f. 1r-v, and calendar possibly by another person, using... Decoration: Six major initials in parted red and blue. 4-line initials in plain blue; 2-and 1-line initials alternating red and blue; slashed initials within the text, underlined words and rubrics in red.
