Title for manuscript from incipit of predominant work (f. 11r); spine title Vocabularius; the work had numerous printed editions in the 15th century under the title Vocabularius ex quo. Origin: Written in Aachen, Germany in the second half of the 15th century (Zacour-Hirsch). Script: Written in a German cursive, with the decorative heading on f. 11r in a Gothic book hand; unidentified text on the pastedowns in Gothic book hand and secretary scripts. Binding: Contemporary blind-stamped calf over wooden boards (Zacour-Hirsch), with remains of metal clasp on upper and lower covers; unidentified text on pastedowns inside upper and lower covers. Decoration: 2-line and 3-line red initials throughout; 3-line to 7-line initials to introduce each new letter category, sometimes with geometric or floral patterns, in red (except, Q on f. 169r, in black); decorated initial E in red, yellow, and green, with ears of wheat, flowers, and leaves (f. 11r); manicules with decorated sleeves (f. 25v, 28v, 29r, 35v). Watermark: Briquet Fruit 7424 (1427), Raisin 12991 (1420). Foliation: Paper, ii +238 + iv; [1-238]; modern foliation in pencil, lower right recto. Layout: Written in 3 columns of about 30 lines; text block outlined in ink. Ms. codex. Sold by Helmuth Domizlaff (Munich), 1960.
