Script: Written in naskh in black ink; pointed, vocalized. Decoration: Polychrome and gold illuminated headpieces (f. 1v, 20v), will gold, foliate marginal fill on the page-opening and the text on cloudbands (f. 1v-2r, 20v-21r); double-page illustration of Mecca and Medina in perspective (f. 18v-19r); numerous polychrome and gold text dividers; marginal medallions in polychrome and gold; gold roundels with red and blue dots puncuate the text... Origin: Copy completed on 15 Dhū al-Qaʻdah 1251 AH by Ḥasan al-Shawqī, a student of his father and teacher Khalīl al-Shākir Afandī, the muezzin for the Mosque of Arslan Pasha, which is built into the citadel of the town of Yānīyah (Ioannina, Greece) (f. 101r).
