This initial begins the Introit for the feast of Pentecost, 'Spiritus domini replevit orbem terrarum ...' (The spirit of the Lord fills the whole world).
This image shows the reverse of a leaf with an historiated initial from a gradual. This side of the leaf, the true recto, contains the Offertory for the Saturday before Pentecost.
This leaf can be dated to ca. 1325.
