Collation: Parchment, fol. 98 ; 1-28 34 412 5-88 910 108 1110 128−2 (final two leaves cancelled). An unknown number of leaves apparently lacking after fol. 32 and 56, since those texts end imperfectly ; modern arabic pencil foliation, upper outer corner each page.
Layout: 2 columns, 38-48 lines. Bounding and writing lines ruled in light plummet, upper and lower writing lines full-length to edges.
Script: Written in several early gothic bookhands in brown ink with red rubrics.
Decoration: Two- to four-line red epigraphic capitals throughout, red paragraph markers throughout in differing styles.
Binding: Contemporary (?) deerskin over boards, blind-fillet design on covers, small head- and tail-flaps over endbands; 14th-century manuscript waste pastedowns inner front and back. 14th-century label on spine reads "Astrologi/ca"; 14th-century title handwritten on cover reads, "Albumasar de med[i]tat[i]o[n]ib[us]". Housed in a clamshell box.
Origin: Written in Austria in 1319, possibly at the Benedictine abbey in Admont; the manuscript was at the abbey by 1380, as it is described in the library catalog compiled that year: "Albumasar de meditacionibus cordis. Incipit. In disponendis. In eodem. Liber absconditorum messahale. Et. Liber convinctionis vel receptionis messahale. Et. Liber alchabicii introductorii iudiciorum astronomie...
Provenance: Number 481 in the abbey library through the 19th century, with the abbey label on its spine and a 19th-century purple ownership stamp on fol. 1. Several 14th-century annotations on fol. 1 concerning Golden Numbers. Unidentified manuscript used as binding material on front and rear pastedown.
