Collation: Parchment, fol. iii (modern paper) +158 + ii (modern paper) ; 110 2-148 156 16-198 206 ; modern pencil signatures in arabic numerals, lower left corner of first recto of each quire. Modern arabic pencil foliation, upper outer corner of each page.
Layout: 1 column, 21 lines. Bounding and writing lines ruled in blind.
Script: Written in a gothic bookhand in brown ink with red rubrics.
Decoration: 10-line "puzzle" initials in blue and red with red, blue and green filigree infill and full filigree border in red and green on fol. 11, 39, 55, 72, 85 and 103.
Binding: Modern alum-tawed goatskin over pasteboard, sewn on 3 double raised cords. Surviving original gilt edges.
Origin: Written in Flanders for the use of Utrecht, in the late fifteenth century.
Provenance: The calendar is typical of Utrecht, including standard Utrecht saints such as Phileas (4 Feb.), Swidbertus (1 March), Pancratius (12 May), Wironis (8 May), Odulphus (12 June), Lebuinus and Adelbertus (25 June) and Radbodus (29 November), among many others.
Immediate source of acquisition: Bought by BPL (before 1928) with the income of the Scholfield bequests; BPL embossed stamp on fol. 1 (Schoenberg Database of Manuscripts 42802).
