Title from rubric on fol.1; date posited by relationship with the ca. 1487 edition printed at Ulm by Johann Reger and based on watermark evidence; place of creation conjectured by watermark evidence and paleographical analysis.
Collation: Paper, similar to Briquet 2450, fol. ii (modern paper) + 20 + ii (modern paper) ; i10 ii10 ; modern pencil foliation in upper-right margin of each recto.
Layout: Single column, 36-40 lines; frame-ruled in brown ink.
Script: Written in a gothic semihybrida libraria/currens.
Decoration: Red and blue maiblumen initials with penwork flourishing into the margins. Capitals touched in red.
Binding: Bound by Morrell of London in gold-tooled green goatskin.
Origin: Written in Austria[?] between 1487 and approximately 1499.
Provenance: Present just above the first line of text is a small monogram in brown ink and of indeterminate date, showing the letters "H.P." (or possibly "P.H."), wherein the letter "P" is joined to the upper half of the left ascender of the "H." Bookplates of James R. P. Lyell (1871-1948) and of Libreria la Bibliofila, Milan.
