Collation: Parchment, fol. 6 ; 16 ; single gathering excised from a larger manuscript.
Layout: Single column, 35 lines. Bounding and writing lines in red plummet.
Script: Text written in Bâtarde in brown ink with red rubrics; Latin headings in Textura.
Decoration: Two-line initials in blue and red.
Binding: The Rule is sewn into a modern parchment pamphlet binding with ties, and housed in an acid-free folder. With it are 2 loose damaged parchment manuscript leaves encapsulated in Mylar, evidently the remnants of the gathering's original binding. These leaves are from an unidentified manuscript in Latin, with one large pen initial. They bear evidence of ties and were used to cover the...
Origin: Written in France in the fifteenth century, the location suggested by vernacular text and characteristics of the hand.
Provenance: Fol. 6v bears modern round embossed printed book label printed of Hermann Suchier.
Immediate source of acquisition: Purchased from Antiquarian Books of Boston in 2005.
