Script: Persian script in black ink with red rubrics. Decoration: Gilt borders and elaborate gold decoration at head of title page. Numerous color illustrations of plants, animals, angels, monsters, etc., some small, others quarter- to half-page. Binding: Dark brown blind-stamped19th-century goatskin, salmon endpapers, blue chemise with spine printed in gilt "PERSIAN MSS. AJAIB-AL-MUKLUKAT 1570 A,D." In blue slipcase. Origin: Written in Iran in 1569. Provenance: Contemporary Persian (?) marginalia on title and facing page, as well as on title page verso. Armorial bookplate of Walter Thomas Wallace. Presumed to have been sold in his sale of 1920. Paper repairs to margins of many leaves. Immediate source of acquisition: Acquired by BPL in November 1954. Call number: MS q Med.229.
