Collation: Parchment, fol. vii (parchment) + 240 ; too tightly bound to collate, but appears to be in quires of eight.
Layout: One column, 22 lines; bounding and writing lines in light brown ink, bounding lines doubled and full-length.
Script: Written in a gothic cursive in black ink with red rubrics.
Decoration: Single- and two-line initials throughout in red or blue; three-line initials throughout in gold on blue and salmon, approximately 80 in all; 27 six-line initials in gold and colors with bar border along inner margin terminating in floral sprays; fol. 85: small inter-textual illustrations of the instruments of the passion; fifteen 7- to 15-line major initials in colors on gold with...
Binding: Brown calf; lower cover original, central floral panel with surrounding text reading "De profundis clarnavi ad te domini"; upper cover slightly later, plain brown calf; spine rebacked with modern pale brown leather; bronze clasps, catches and inner edge-pieces, probably contemporary with upper cover (i.e. not original, but not modern); vellum pastedowns at front and back.
