Illuminated Persian manuscript on paper, written in elegant nastaʻlīq script in 24 lines per page, arranged in double columns with additional text extending into the margins. Layout consists of a central text block (Dīvān of Ḥāfiẓ) with marginal texts. The main text (Dīvān of Ḥāfiẓ) and the marginal texts (starting with and including the Bustān of Saʻdī) appear to be written by the same... The Bustān of Saʻdī is written in the margins from the beginning of the manuscript to folio 152 recto, where it ends with the statement "Tamma al-Kitāb Bustān." The Ghazaliyāt of Saʻdī in the margins begin on folio 152 verso and continue to approximately folio 172 verso. Paleographical features suggest an early stage in the development of nastaʻlīq, including the use of a single dot for the letter ch and a distinctive angular connection between bāʼ and rāʼ not typically found in later hands. The title "al-Sulṭānī" suggests association with the court of Ibrāhīm Sulṭān (r. 1415-1435), supporting attribution to Shiraz in the early 15th century.
