Collation: Paper, fol. 368 (foliated [21]-378 in Devanagari numerals on verso, final 10 leaves without foliation but damaged in corners; foliation begins with "27" on 7th leaf); sewn through the center in a single quire; now lacking fol. 177, 259-260, 272). Paper is varyingly tinted blue, yellow, red, or brown. Layout: On fol. 1-222, written in 9-12 long lines, with double-ruled black vertical borders filled in with red. On fol. 223-237 and 274-303, written 11-14 long lines, with doubl-ruled black vertical borders. On fol. 238-264, written in 11-14 long lines, with double-ruled black vertical borders filled in with red. On fol. 365-376r, written in 5 long lines with space for interleaved commentary... Script: Written in Devanagari script in black ink by several hands. Decoration: Full page illustrations of 3 tirthankaras seated in lotus position (on fol. 266v, green figure with bull or buffalo below; on fol. 267r, yellow figure with horse or deer below; on fol. 268v, dark blue figure, likely Neminatha, with shankha below) and a face (fol. 273r). On fol. 1-222, red circle in center of recto pages, 3 red circles in inner margin, center, and outer margin of... Binding: single quire binding with thick cord sewn through 3 holes; center bifolium reinforced with thicker paper guard. Origin: Written in India in the 19th century or earlier. Shelfmark: Chicago, IL, University of Chicago Library, Ms1726. Text written in non-scribal hands on fol. 264v-265r, 267v, 269r, 273v-274r, 363r-364v, 376v-379v, which are otherwise blank. Tirthankara on fol. 268v missing lower half, likely due to acid ink; hole patched with blank paper.
