Title from Kidd.
Layout: Written in 6 lines of of text and music; ruled in plummet, with prickings at fore-edge.
Script: Written in gothic script.
Decoration: Initials alternating in red and purple.
Origin: Written perhaps in Bohemia during the 15th century.
Foliated '108' in 20th-century pencil.
Use of purple for initials suggests possible origin in Bohemia; acquired by Dawson's Bookshop, Los Angeles, and described by them in their Catalogue 245 (Fall 1950) as Carthusian, though evidence for this attribution is unclear; Vassar College: 'Carthusian Hymnal, 15th century' (recto) and 'Dawson Jan. '50 [$]2.--' and '642' (verso) in pencil on lower margins. - Keyword:
