Decoration: 2-line champie initials in blue, gold, and red with foliate sprays in red with gold, green, and red details; 1-line initials alternating in gold and blue Origin: Written in the northern Netherlands during the 15th century. Possibly from a Dutch Book of hours sold by Sotheby's to American bookseller, C.A. Stonehill (1937); Dawson's Bookshop, Los Angeles, CA, with typescript description matching their Catalogue No. 211 (1946); 'Dawson Sept '48 [dollars] 5-542' in pencil on recto and 'Book of Hours. Flanders 15th century | written in Flemish' in pencil on verso.
