Marginal notes and glosses. On several folios before the title page is the table of contents of the first volume. On two folios before the first in the second volume is a table of its contents. Extracts (vol. 1, fol. 4a). The edges are trimmed. The work is also known as al-Muḥīṭ al-Raḍawī.
Collation: Paper ; fol. ii + 189 + ii and ii + 226 + ii ; catchwords ; collation notes (see vol. 1, fol. 189b) ; foliation in ink using Hindu-Arabic numerals ; modern foliation in pencil using Western numerals.
Layout: 17 lines per page ; frame-ruled in indigo.
Description: Rubricated ; overlining and other use of red ; watermarks (later endpapers only: shield with a face-in-the-moon (v. 1), double-headed eagle (v. 2)) ; MS in good condition.
Decoration: Elaborate title page decoration in gold, red, blue, turquoise, gray and white (volume 1, fol. 5a). Title of first chapter written in gold.
Origin: According to colophon of volume 2, copy completed Thursday 14 Ramaḍān 936 by ʻAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad ibn Majd al-Dīn al-Mālikī (volume 2, fol. 226a).
Volume 1, folio 3a has seal impression and the signature: Muftī Qāz̤īʹzādah (Fatḥī); folio 5a has signature: Muḥammad ibn Maḥmūd ibn Muḥammad ibn Ḥusayn al-Jazārī al-Ḥanafī. Acquired from Brill, Leyden, 1900. - Keyword:
