Text frames completely or partially detached; numerous paper repairs. Some damp staining and mild insect damage. In delicate condition due to detached frames. Decoration: Well-executed illuminations. Illuminated ʻunwān in gold and color at the beginning of each sūrah, with the largest being the first headpiece on fol. 1b. Text layout: one line in large gold script, three lines in small black script flanked on either side by illuminations; pattern is repeated then ends with a line in large gold script. Text framed in blue and gold; text area written... Origin: Last third of Ṣafar 976 H [August 1568], Herat, by Aḥmad ibn Niʻmat Allāh [fol. 21a].
