Title from fol. 1a (later hand, mentioning Kashf al-ẓunūn).
Physical description: 10 lines per page. Written in medium large naskh with elements of ruqʻah(?) (professional hand) in black ink with use of red. The text is vocalized. European aper with watermark, glossy. Several fāʼidah by a later hand on fol. 1b-2a, one with sayings of the prophet Muḥammad on the moments of the day, another on the days of the week. Lower margin worm-eaten.
Two spine labels (vertical), reading respectively: "Irshād al-murīdīn fī ḥikāyāt al-ṣāliḥīn li- ibn al-Jawzī" (in Arabic script), and "78" (in Arabic and Western numerals).
Origin: Copy completed in Shaʻbān 1003 [April-May 1595] by Aḥmad ibn Ḥaydar ibn Ḥasan Shīrawī (colophon, fol. 123b).
Acquired by Robert Garrett from Brill, Leyden, 1925, from the books of Murād Bey al-Bārūdī (Beirut).
