Title from title page (fol. 1a). The title appears in the preamble of the text as "Īḍāḥ al-mubham min Lāmiyat al-ʻAajam" (fol. 2a, l. 16).
Physical description: 25 lines per page. Written in medium small naskh in black ink with use of red for entries, re-inking, and line stops in verses of poetry; yāʾ for alif maqṣūrah; dotted final yāʾ. European paper with watermark. Occasional marginal annotations by several hands.
Origin: According to colophon, copy completed at the end of Jumādá al-Akhīr 1006 [Feb. 1598] by Ramaḍān ibn al-marhūm Hibat Allāh(?) ibn al-marḥūm Najm al-Dīn ibn al-marḥūm ʻAlī al-Azharī al-Ḥamdi al-Zalāwī(? Hitti reads TRLāWī?) (fol.97b).
Four ownership statements on fol. 1a, two obliterated, one in the name of al-Sayyid ʻAṭāʾ Allāh ... Ibn Zayn al-Dīn, cadi in al-Fayyūm al-Yusūfīyah (crossed out), another in the name of Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad al-Ṭuwāqī, dated 1120 H.
