Beginning as extant: على الكفاية تعلّمها المثاب ان شاء الله تعالي معلّمها ومتعلّمها الي ان لاحت الملاحة في وجه كتاب المساحة من كتاب غنية الحسّاب في علم الحساب تاليف عمدة الاثبات جمال الدين احمد بن ثَبات ذي العوارف الهمامية المعروف بقاضي الهُمامية ... [2ب] ... قال المصنّف رحمه الله تعالى كتاب المساحة بكسر الميم قيل هي استعلام امثال الواحد المفوض الخطي
Explicit: وان شيت بالنسبة فما خرج فهو الجواب والله اعلم بالصواب وصلى الله علي محمد واله وصحبه وسلم تسليما قال شيخنا العلامم نفع الله به شارح هذه ... الميمونة وكان الفراغ من وضع هذا الشرح [96أ] في جمادي الآخره من شهور سنة خمس وخمسين وتسع ماية انتهي
Physical description: 17 lines per page. Written in medium small naskh in black ink with use of red. Contains figures and diagrams. From fol. 64 on, the spaces intended for such diagrams are left blank. Light cream paper with laid and chain lines visible. Fol. 1 is a later addition, with upper corner torn off, with mention of the title and ownership statements. The first folio of the text is...
Inscription in Arabic script on a label pasted on the upper cover: "Sh ...? 186" (repeated in red pencil on the pastedown of the upper cover). Two spine labels (vertical), one with the inscription in Roman script: "AUT S [next line] 57" (same label on the pastedown of the upper cover, repeated in red pencil on the pastedown itself), the other with the title in Arabic script, reading: "al-Misāḥah".
Origin: Copied by ʻAbd al-Raḥmān in Ramaḍān 961 (colophon, fol. 96a). The copyist adds in a note that he heard this text read by somebody else in front on the author, Shaykhunā al-ʻallāmah Radī al-Dīn Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥanbalī, who gave him an ijāzah, in Dhū al-Qaʻdah of the same year.
Three ownership statements and one seal dated 1265 H. [1848 or 9] on fol. 1a, in the name of Aḥmad Āghā Ibn al-Ḥājj Aḥmad Āghā Sayyid(?, the rest torn off), with indication of a price ; al-Ḥājj Bakrī Ibn Ḥājj Muṣṭafá Ibn al-...(?) ; Yūsuf ibn Muḥammad al-Jamālī(?, obliterated).
