Thin biscuit paper with pulp and laid lines visible. The text proper starts on fol. 1b. Several short notes on fol. 1a. Short text on fol. 297b. Foliation in Arabic numerals. Some leaves are mended. Worm eaten -- extremely fragile. Two modern spine labels (vertical), with inscriptions reading respectively "al-Qiṭʻah al-ūlá min al-Kashshāf" in Arabic script, and "280" in Arabic and Western numerals. Copied for himself by Kamāl ibn QWLʻR(?) on 17 Rabīʻ al-Ākhar 794 [March 1392] (colophon, fol. 297a). Acquired by Robert Garrett from Brill, 1925, from the books of Murād Bey al-Bārūdī (Beirut).
