Written in medium small naskh (professional hand) in black ink with use of red for the commented text (gold oultined in black for the word "Allāh" and for headings, see fol. 4b-5a and 21a). Yāʼ for alif maqṣūrah; final yāʼ dotted. The text is framed in gold outlined in black and blue. . Marginal annotations by several hands. Foliation in black ink using... Decoration: Now almost completely lost illumination on the first fol., with traces of a mandorla in blue and red filled with gold, and of an outer border in gold outlined in black and blue. Illuminated headpiece (ʻunwān) on fol. (i)b, elegantly exectuted in gold, blue, red, and black, and bearing the title of the sūrah, the number of its verses, and a basmalah. Inscription in Arabic script on a label pasted on the upper cover: "Tafsīr 10". Inscription in Arabic script on a label pasted on the pastedown of the upper cover: "Ḥ 1094". Origin: According to colophon, copied by Kamāl ibn Ḥusayn ibn Maḥmūd ibn Muḥammad al-qāḍī al-Dizfūlī in Dizfūl "min bilād ... tān", under the direction of Saʻd al-Dīn Ibrāhīm ibn al-Shaykh Najm al-Dīn Ismāʻīl ibn al-shaykh ... al-Ṣamadānī, and completed on Wednesday 6 Ramaḍān 851 [Nov. 15, 1447] (fol. 255b). Waqf (inscription "waqf" on the margins, e.g. fol. 21a). Ownership statement in the name of ʻAlā al-Mutaṭabbib dated 877(?) H. with stamp on fol. 255b. Acquired from Abraham Shalom Yahuda, 1942.
