Ms. codex. Title from title page (fol. 2a). 25 lines per page. Written in medium small naskh in black ink with use of red. Larger script for headings. Dark cream paper with pulp, chain and laid lines visible. Fol. 134-143 are later replacements.Table on fol. 1b. Table of contents on fol. 2a. The first folio is pasted on the verso of the second endpaper. Some folios apparently misplaced. Copy completed at the end of Shaʻbān 723 in Madīnat al-Khalīl (colophon, fol. 153a). Two modern spine labels (vertical) with inscriptions reading respectively "Kitāb awwal Kanz al-maʻānī fī sharḥ Ḥirz al-amānī lil-Jaʻbarī" in Arabic script, and 216 in Arabic and Western numerals.
