Provenance: Former owner Nathan Brown was a missionary to Assam who left India in 1850; this manuscript presumably predates Brown's departure.
Buranji manuscript, on sānchi pāt [Aquilaria malaccensis bark].
The text is possibly a work titled Assam Buranji, which was originally composed by Kashinath Tamuli-Phukan in 1835. Early 19th-century inscription in English, possibly by Nathan Brown, reads: "Tamuli Phukan's Buronji. This is a History of the Ahom Kings from Sukappa -- who first invaded Asam down to the time of the East India Company." - Keyword:
