Extent: 177 leaves : paper ; 199 x 137 (160 x 95) mm. bound to 203 x 150 mm.

Note:

Collation: Paper ; fol. i + 177 + i ; catchwords ; modern foliation in pencil using Western numerals.
Description: Written in naskhi ; rubricated ; vowel signs ; watermarks (circular with portrait?) ; MS in good condition.
Layout: 17-19 lines per page.
Marginal notes and summaries. On folio before title page is a table of contents. On title page are four verses of poetry about the Yatīmah. Folios 19, 28-115, and 141-171 are on different paper (no watermarks) and by a much earlier hand, probably of the XIVth century. In these sections, the biographee's names appear also in roundels in the margin in red or green ink.

Origin: According to colophon copied Wednesday 1 Dhū al-Qaʻdah 1076 by Ibrāhīm ibn Sulaymān ibn Muḥammad ibn ʻAbd al-ʻAzīz al-Ḥanafī (fol. 177a).

Ownership autographs on the title page include: Ibrāhīm ibn Sulaymān ibn Muḥammad ibn ʻAbd al-ʻAzīz al-Ḥanafī 1076 with his seal impression, Naṣr Allāh 1217 with his seal impression, Aḥmad ibn Aḥmad ibn Ḥusayn al-Furūḥī 1153, and ʻAlī ibn Jahīr? al-Ḥusaynī 1250 with his seal impression. Acquired from Brill, Leyden, 1900.
