Other decoration, ff. 1-329v: 38 7- to 4-line painted initials on gold grounds with thin swirling multicolored acanthus leaves in the margins; 2-line initials alternating red and blue, sometimes with flourishing in both colors..
Script, ff. 1-329v: Gothic script with a single-compartment "a."
Layout, ff. 1-329v: 2 columns of 32 lines. Running headlines added in early modern times. - Former Owner(s):
- Entered the library between 1877 and 1900 as suggested by the hyphenated form of the city name in the library stamp on f. 1 as "The College of the City of New-York."
- Note:
- ff. 1-329v: Early foliation that goes as high as f. 360 has been followed in this description, although possibly as many as 30 leaves have been cut away, to judge from skipped numbers in said foliation and occasional stubs.
ff. 1-329v: Latin.
ff. 1-329v: Possibly intended for use in a Franciscan house, given the emphasis on Franciscan saints in the litany; now lacking the calendar at the beginning, the very end of the sanctorale and all of the common of saints. - IIIF Manifest:
