Collation: Parchment, fol. i (parchment) + 164 + i (ruled but blank) ; 1-9¹⁰ 10⁴ 11-16¹⁰ ; vertical catchwords at foot of the final verso of each quire. Penciled folio numeration in later hand.
Origin: Italy. Coat of Arms has been described as of the De Haye family.
Layout, Epitome Rerum Romanorum: Written in 1 column of 24 lines (dimensions of written space: 16 x 9 mm); vertical rulings, prickings absent, corrections and marginalia in an early hand.
Layout, Ex T. Livy ab urbe condita: Written in 2 columns in 52 lines (dimensions of written space: 280 x 165 mm); ruling in crayon in places; prickings in outer margin; corrections and marginalia in an early modern hand.
Script: Humanistic book hand.
Decoration: 3 levels. I. f1r: full page border in green, blue, gold, red, fuchsia, brown and flesh. With illuminated capitals containing profile image of each Author; 5 scene medallions of the Foundation of Rome & 7 portrait medallions with profiles of Roman Kings, 1 additional medallion showing frontal bust of Jesus. II. f19v, 42r, 67r contain 4x3 cm illuminated capital with extensive...
Decoration: Rubrication throughout; gold illuminations; presence of lapis lazuli.
Binding: Original brown morocco over wooden boards, 6x3 cm arabesque centerpiece and paneled by a 25 mm rectangular border at a margin of 2 cm, as well as an outer border of blind fillets, the backstrip is in 7 panels, crossed by diagonal lines extended into point on each cover. Remnants of four hasps, 2 on front edge, and one on top and bottom. Silk head and tailbands.
