Leonardo Bruni's translation and expanded version of Plutarch's Cicero and Demosthenes.
Collation: Parchment, fol. 78 (modern foliation begins with second leaf); 12 2-810 94 102; catchwords in lower right margins.
Layout: Written in 22 long lines beginning on first ruled line; ruled in hard point.
Script: Written in humanistic cursiva formata; omitted portion of text added in violet ink in margins by the scribe and by Bernardo Bembo.
Decoration: Two illuminated initials.
Origin: Written in northern Italy in about 1450, probably for Bernardo Bembo of Venice.
Copy formerly owned by Bernardo Bembo, with his signature (partially obliterated) on inside of back cover and a few marginalia in the text.
Bookplate of Thomas Edward Marston, formerly number 178 in the Marston library, New Haven, Connecticut; acquired by Thomas Edward Marston from C. A. Stonehill in 1958; Bequeathed to Yale University; sold at Sotheby's, 9 December 1974, lot 46, plate 8. - Keyword:
